The Amateur Trapshooting Association serves as the governing body for the sport of American style trapshooting. The ATA’s mission is to promote and govern the sport throughout the world The ATA sets the rules and regulations each shooter shall follow while trapshooting.
We hold registered shoots (ATA sanctioned shoots where scores are recorded) each month during the spring, summer shooting season.
Any shooter may join the ATA via the club at anytime but most join when shooting their first ATA event. (shooter may join via the ATA website as well prior to an event)
West Chester Gun Club regularly checks and calibrates our trap machines to the ATA specifications. We will gladly check for calibration upon shooter request during a practice shoot. Traps are set prior to each ATA event and will only be adjusted per the ATA rules during an event.

Pennsylvania State Sportsmen’s Association (PSSA)
The PSSA is the PA Trapshooting governing body. Scores for a registered event are registered with the national ATA and the regional PSSA. Similar to the ATA, the PSSA holds the nations largest state shoot and additional state events. Scores through the shooting year will determine the Keystone States Shooting Team.
