In consideration of West Chester Gun Club (WCGC) furnishing services, equipment, and/or the facilities and in consideration of my participation in clay shooting and other related activities (the “Sport”). I agree as follows:

THIS IS AN IMPORTANT CONTRACT WHICH GIVES UP CERTAIN RIGHTS. READ IT CAREFULLY.

In consideration of West Chester Gun Club (“WCGC”) furnishing services, equipment, and/or the facilities and in consideration of my participating in clay shooting and other WCGC activities (the “Sport”), I agree as follows:

I fully understand and acknowledge that:

  1. There are risks and dangers in my use of sports equipment (guns and archery equipment) and my participation in the Sport, including:
    • risks from handling firearms;
    • risks from being near others who are handling firearms;
    • risks of injury or death from ammunition and shots from other guns;
    • risks of injury from recoil or misfiring of the firearm I am using;
    • risks from handling or being near others who are handling archery equipment;
    • risks that exist from tripping, falling or otherwise being injured on the property of others.
  2. My participation in the Sport, use of Sport equipment, and/or presence at WCGC's facilities may result in personal injury, death or other ailments that could cause serious disability damage to or loss of personal property.
  3. These risks and dangers may be caused by mechanical failures, or by the negligence of other participants, or by the action or inaction of WCGC, its employees or agents, or by accidents, breaches of contract, forces of nature or other causes. Risks and dangers are inherent in the Sport, and may arise from foreseeable or unforeseeable causes.

Recognizing and accepting all of these risks and dangers, I, on behalf of myself, my family, heirs, executors, administrators, representatives and assigns, assume all risks and dangers and all responsibility for any losses and/or damages which result from my participation in the Sport or my presence in or on WCGC’s facilities.

WE RECOMMEND TAKING INSTRUCTION FOR ALL BEGINNERS.

I HAVE READ AND UNDERSTAND THE CLUB RULES. (see rules to the right)

I accept Condition #1 #2 and #3 as listed above

I, for myself, my spouse, family, heirs, executors, administrators, legal representatives, and assigns, hereby release, waive, discharge and exonerate, and agree not to sue, West Chester Gun Club, and its officers, shareholders, directors, employees, and agents (collectively, “Releasees”) from any and all claims actions or losses for injuries, property damage, death, loss of services or other, arising out of my participation in the Sport or my presence in or on WCGC‘s facilities, whether due to the fault or negligence of Releasees, circumstances beyond Releasees’ control, or any other cause.

I accept and agree to the statement listed above

I HAVE READ THIS RELEASE AND WAIVER, AND I UNDERSTAND IT.

IT IS MY INTENTION TO RELIEVE WCGC FROM LIABILITY FOR INJURIES, PROPERTY, DAMAGE, OR DEATH CAUSED BY NEGLIGENCE OR ANY OTHER CAUSES.

I HAVE ALSO READ, UNDERSTOOD, AND WILL FOLLOW THE WCGC RANGE RULES and SAFETY PROCEDURES, WHICH ARE LISTED ON THIS PAGE, AND ARE POSTED ON THE WCGC WEBSITE, AND ARE POSTED AROUND THE WCGC PROPERTY.

Who is this waiver for?

I am filling this out for myself, an individual over the age of 18.I am filling this out for my child or person under 18 years of age in my care.

In consideration for the minor identified below being permitted by West Chester Gun Club (WCGC) to enter the premises of WCGC and/or to participate in any of the activities of WCGC, including the handling and firing of guns, and/or the handling and use of archery equipment, and all related facilities and services of WCGC, I agree, for myself and on behalf of the minor, to accept all of the terms of the Waiver and Release of Liability of WCGC.

I further agree to and do hereby waive, release, and indemnify WCGC relative to the presence and/or participation of the minor on or in the activities of WCGC.

The undersigned parent, guardian, or custodian of the above minor, for himself/herself and on behalf of said minor, hereby stipulates and agrees to:

  • Save and hold harmless, indemnify, and forever defend West Chester Gun Club, its directors, officers, agents, employees, and volunteers (Releasees) from and against any claims, actions, demands, expenses, liabilities (including reasonable attorneys fees), asserted by, for, or on behalf of the minor; whether any such claims, actions, demands, expenses, or liabilities may be caused by the action or inaction of any Releasee or by any other cause or circumstance; which may be made or brought by said minor or by anyone on behalf of said minor, as a result of or relating in any way to said minor's participation in the activities of the WCGC or his or her use of the property and facilities of the WCGC.
  • I, for myself and on behalf of said minor, further agree not to sue the WCGC as a result of any injury, paralysis or death that said minor suffers in connection with his/her participation in the activities of WCGC or presence on WCGC property.

Range Rules:

  • Maintain Muzzle control at ALL times.
  • No handling or uncasing of firearms when people are down range.
  • Do not approach the firing line when an orange cone is placed on top of the trap house.
  • An uncased shotgun must be in use on the firing line or in the racks, unloaded with the action open where possible.
  • Always place firearms in the gun racks when not shooting. Never lay your gun on the ground or put the muzzle in the grass or dirt.
  • When moving with a firearm, have the action open and the muzzle straight up or directly at the ground.
  • No moving when the firearm is loaded or the action closed.
  • Actions may be closed only when it is your turn to shoot.
  • Load only on the firing line.
  • Only load ONE (1) shell at a time on the trap field. You may load two shells only when shooting trap doubles. Any exceptions must be cleared with the Range Officer prior to shooting.
  • Be sure range is clear before shooting.
  • Single projectiles or larger shot are NOT allowed.
  • Small shot only (#7 1/2 or smaller)
  • All shooting shall be in front of the light poles.
  • Only clay birds thrown by the association machine may be shot on the trap range.
  • Pick up only your empties and only after your squad’s shooting is completed.
  • Help keep the area clean at all times.
  • All duds and missfired shells must be removed from club grounds by the owner. Do not leave them on the ground or put them in the trash.
  • Always check the barrel with a ram-rod after any abnormal discharge.
  • Shotguns must be of a sporting type. No home defense, tactical or pistol grips.
  • Patterning board is for target load shot only.
  • Eye and ear protection must be worn. Other persons in the vicinity of the firing line are urged to wear ear plugs, ear muffs, or similar adequate ear protection
  • You are not allowed to pass a gun to another person while on the firing line. If you are sharing a gun, then each shooter must shoot his complete round and then pass the unloaded gun to the next person.
  • Follow all instructions of the Range Master, Shoot Management, and Club Management. Range officers are authorized to remove any shooter whose behavior is detrimental to the safe operations of any of the ranges.
  • Follow the Range Officer’s directions immediately. Arguing or unsportsmanlike behavior will cause you to be removed from the range and denied future shooting privileges
  • If an emergency cease fire is called, all firearms must be immediately unloaded and placed in a gun rack. Do not handle firearms during an emergency cease fire.
  • Only individuals that are shooting are permitted on the trap field unless they have the permission of the range officer before the round begins.
  • Only authorized personnel are permitted forward of the 16 yard line.
  • Individuals that have never shot trap before will be required to shoot their first round on a squad with other experienced shooters or under the supervision of an experienced individual authorized by the range officer.
  • All shooters are subject to a safety check at any time.
  • All shooters must be legally able to own and operate a firearm and not a “Prohibited Person” as defined by the federal and state laws.
