Trap Lessons: Details
For the new shooter, we start with fundamental safe gun handling and build your skill as you break your first clay target.
Experienced shooters, who have been away from the sport, find the course beneficial to sharpen their skills before stepping back onto the trap fields.
- Saturdays, usually 2 a month
- Lesson starts at 8:45am, sharp!
- $125 Fee includes:
- Instruction
- Use of Club’s premium trap shotguns – includes youth & women’s sizes
- Range and Day fees
- 50 targets – 2 rounds of trap
- 12-gauge ammunition
- Foam Ear Plugs
- Participants provide their own personal eye protection
- Safety Glasses from Home Depot are fine
- Regular eyeglasses are acceptable
- Class size limited to 5, ensuring individual attention
- Class ends at Noon

Chuck Matasic - Trapshooting Instructor
An avid trapshooter and successful competitor, Chuck has been teaching at the West Chester Gun Club since 2018.
Chuck customizes instruction for students of all ages and skill levels with the goal of improving their abilities, understanding and enjoyment of the game.
As an instructor, Chuck is highly skilled at communicating the core knowledge required to shoot well. Lessons cover gun safety, gun fit, eye dominance, stance, shooting form and technique as well as the mental approach needed for ultimate success. He is also an experienced coach – able to assess what needs adjustment, and then provide guidance on how to fix it.
Involved in shooting and archery for over 50 years, Chuck began his love of shooting sports as a NRA competitive smallbore shooter at age 11.
His work experience contributes to his success as an firearms and archery instructor.

Chuck has hands-on experience with a wide range of firearms. Additionally, he has visited many manufacturers in the US and Europe. His experience is very beneficial to shooters looking for advice on their first or next firearm.
